Why Join?
Benefits of Membership:
Through in-person gatherings and facilitated connections within the membership portal, members have the opportunity to meet other English students who can answer their questions about research opportunities, involvement with the English department, internships and more.

We host a variety of presentations and workshops exclusive to UEA members that will help prepare them for life after Park Hall. From immersive Graduate school presentations, in which we walk through the application process, discuss different opportunities available in continuing one’s higher education and answer specific questions from members, to personal statement and resume critiques, our career prep initiatives serve to help students walk confidently through the Arch after they graduate.

Along with meet and greets with guests who come to the English department, such as authors Alice Walker and Ira Sukrungruang and Panelists Janet Geddis and past UEA President Taylor Miller, UEA members have the opportunity to meet with a wide range of professionals through resources provided by the English Department and their faculty and staff. This provides members with establishing connections with future employers in the early stages of their undergraduate career.

Professional Development: From traveling to regional conferences to present an undergraduate thesis to publishing one’s own work, UEA provides members with opportunities to challenge themselves to gain the most out of their time at GUA and graduate with tangible milestones of success. We don’t merely provide members with resources; we show what members can do with them.
